Freedom Boat Club New Zealand members can temporarily pause their membership under the following conditions.

Hold allowance

You may pause your membership for a total of six months over the lifetime of your membership. This allowance does not reset each year.

Pauses must be taken in whole-month blocks, either separately or consecutively. For example, you could take several one-month pauses or one continuous six-month pause.

You can request a pause at any time after joining.

Monthly hold fee

During your pause, a NZ$50 monthly hold fee, including GST, replaces your usual monthly membership fee.

Membership access

You cannot use your membership while it is paused. This includes boat bookings at your home club and reciprocal access to other Freedom Boat Club locations.

Requesting a pause

Email newzealand@freedomboatclub.co.nz at least seven days before your next billing date, stating how many months you would like to pause.

Pauses begin on your normal billing date. Our team will confirm your remaining hold allowance, pause dates and payments in writing.

Requests received with less than seven days’ notice may need to take effect from the following billing date.

Resuming your membership

Your membership and usual monthly membership payments will automatically resume at the end of your confirmed pause period.

To return earlier or request an extension, email newzealand@freedomboatclub.co.nz. Extensions are subject to your remaining hold allowance and require at least seven days’ notice before your scheduled return date. Early returns are subject to the whole-month pause requirement.

Changes to this policy

This policy is subject to change without prior notice. Any pause already confirmed in writing will retain its agreed terms for the confirmed period. New pause requests and extensions will be subject to the policy in effect when they are confirmed.

This Hold Policy forms part of your Freedom Boat Club New Zealand Membership Agreement.
