Freedom Local vs boat ownership

See how Freedom Local compares with buying and running a boat over four years, including membership costs, insurance, storage, servicing, cleaning, refuelling, depreciation and finance assumptions.

ESTIMATED SAVINGS WITH FREEDOM LOCAL

$60,998 over 4 years

That's around $1,270 every month back in your pocket

Other hidden costs most boat owners don't consider

  • Setup, cleaning, fuelling and pack-down time - 40% of a boater's day
  • Larger vehicle required for towing
  • Extra wear and tear on your towing vehicle
  • Additional fuel used while towing
  • Storage space at home or paid marina storage
  • Opportunity cost of capital tied up in the boat vs investing or paying down the mortgage

With Freedom Local, the aim is simple: walk on, enjoy the boat, walk off — while the club handles the ownership work.

Industry note: Statistics estimate that 40% of a boater's day is spent setting up, cleaning, fuelling and packing down the boat if stored at home.
